It's actually very interesting reading this storyline. I've always thought of myself as a realist; I am someone who values reasoning and logic over emotions. I don't know how much I believe in the idea of "fighting for" a partner or a relationship when it is in its early stages. Sure, relationships are not easy, and every relationship has its ups and downs, but that's different from a relationship where practically all odds are against you, and it's just from the start very difficult. I mean is it worth pursuing a relationship like this or is it just sign that you shouldn't 😅. Again, I'm talking only about a relationship when it's fairly new, and no real commitments have been made, which is basically the case here. I mean they're both teenagers and have not even officially started dating. Just a thought, would love to hear your opinion about it.
Thanks so much for your comment, and what a great comment it was! I'm a romantic, but I'm also really practical when it comes to love. You're talking to someone who had premarital counselling before marrying the man she loved because she knew it was the sensible thing to do. So, yes, I'm a realist. I aim to create couples that will last and that are super-compatible. Even my enemies-to-lovers storylines always morph into friend-to-lovers because I believe friends make the best lovers and friendship is super important in relationship longevity. For this reason, I tend to steer clear of super dysfunctional couples when I read romance.
So, this storyline is different for me. Because of the age of the characters, they don't really know themselves quite so well yet. They haven't finished growing or discovering what they want and who they are. And they have a lot standing in their way. A HEA wouldn't be realistic for them, but a HFN should be. I'm going to try and deliver on this front and hope it pleases my audience enough. Lol.
Anyway, again, thanks so much for your comment, I loved it.
Hi Heather, thanks for your beautiful comment. I had another reader tell me this one didn't hit well with them, so I've gone back and am trying to make it even more emotional, lol.
